James R. Moder, Sr., 79 of Beach City, passed away Friday Dec. 13, 2013 following a period of declining health. He was born at Brewster, the son of the late Maxwell E. and Edna V. Judd Moder. and had been a life resident of the area. He had been a car inspector with the Norfolk and Western Railroad, Brewster. James is survived by his wife, the former Shirley McCaulley whom he married July 13, 1956 of the residence; 1 daughter and son in law, Bonnie (Ralph) Cale of Massillon; 2 sons, James (Butch) Moder, Jr. of Brewster and John (Red) Moder of Beach City; 4 grandsons and 2 great grandsons; 1 sister and 2 brothers, Betty Knight of Massillon, Bill Moder of Navarre and Donald Moder of Wooster. There will be no calling hours or service. Lantzer Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
