John (Red) Moder

John “Red” Moder, 57, of Beach City, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 28, 2017. John was born on June 23, 1960, in Massillon, Ohio, the son of James and Shirley Moder. He lived in the Brewster/Beach City area for most of his life and was known for his kind and generous spirit. He inherited his father's love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His other passion was his Harley, and he enjoyed road trips with his riding buddies. He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Moder, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Moder of Beach City, his son, Brandon Moder of Beach City, a brother, James R. Moder, Jr. (Butch) of Brewster, a sister, Bonnie (Ralph) Cale, of Massillon, nephews James, Jared, Jesse, Lucien, and Isaac Cale, and a very special friend, his crazy angel Vicki Mercer. He was also blessed with a very close circle of friends, especially his “Brewster Boys.” The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Raza Khan and Staff and Aultman Palliative and Hospice. It was John's wish to be cremated. Friends may call and pay their last respects and offer condolences to the family on Monday, November 13, from 3-5pm at Lantzer Funeral Home in Beach City. A service will follow at 5:00 with Reverend William C. Andrick officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family also suggests random acts of kindness be performed to continue John's legacy of giving, especially in the upcoming holiday season.
