Shirley A., Moder, 79, of Beach City, passed away on December 7, 2018 after a period of declining health. She was born on April 19, 1939 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Walter and Mildred McCaulley. She lived in the Brewster/Beach City area for most of her life. She had been a dedicated certified nursing assistant as her career choice. Before her health issues robbed her of such pleasures, she loved to fish with her husband and their faithful chocolate lab, Coco, crawl around pulling weeds in her flower beds, and paint anything standing still! She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James R. Moder, Sr., and one son, John (Red) Moder. She is survived by son James R. Moder, Jr. of Brewster, daughter and son-in-law Bonnie and Ralph Cale of Massillon and grandsons James Cale, Brandon Moder, Jared Cale, Jesse Cale and the loves of her life, great-grandsons Lucien and Isaac Cale. As per Shirley’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Burial will be in Welty Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Humane Society to honor her love of animals.
