Owen"Red" John Raber

Owen J. “Red” Raber, 77 of Beach City passed away at the Truman Hospice House in New Phil on Friday, February 1, 2019, following a brief illness. He was born at home near Winesburg, Ohio on December 5, 1941, to the late John A. and Katie (Miller) Raber. He worked many years as a stationary engineer at Massillon City Hospital and Union Hospital. He is survived by his four children, John (Bobbi) Raber of Bowerston, Jim (Phyllis) Raber of Dover, Jeane Raber (James) of Winesburg and Julie (Evan) Gerber of Winesburg, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a great grandchild due in July; his sister Esta (Paul) Yoder of Winesburg; and his little doggies, Buddy and Willie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Aden & Arie Raber. The family will receive guests Monday, February 4, from 5 -8 p.m. at Lantzer Funeral Home in Beach City. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Reformed Church in Winesburg with Pastor Brett Barkley officiating. a private burial will take place prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. SW. New Phila, Oh 44662..
