Shirley Sampsel

Shirley Sampsel, 75 of Massillon passed away at her residence, Dec. 4, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born at Dundee, Oh., the daughter of the late Daniel and Pearl Connor Sliffe and had been a Massillon resident 30 years. Shirley attended the United Methodist Church at Wilmot and retired from Heartland Behavioral Care at Massillon where she was a nurse. Surviving are children; Chip (Lynn) Sampsel of Longmont, Colo., Bob (Barbara) Sampsel of Massillon, Don (Jackie) Sampsel of Akron and Lori (Rusty) Steiner of Massillon; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; 2 brothers and 1 sister, Dan Sliffe of Massillon and George Sliffe of Uhrichsville, Irene Baker of Strasburg. A memorial service will be held, Thursday December 9, 2010 at 5 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Wilmot. Friends may call at the church from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice, United Methodist Church, Wilmot, Oh or Aultman School of Nursing, Canton. Family interment will be made in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg, Oh. Lantzer Funeral Home, Beach City is handling arrangements.
