Betty Lou Savage, 88, formerly of Beach City, OH, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, in Ft. Myers, FL. She was born on Aug. 22, 1926 to Leonard and Margaret (Charton) Numbers in Canton, OH. She graduated from the former Bolivar High School and Aultman Hospital School of Nursing, worked at Aultman and Massillon City Hospitals, Dr. Edward Hill’s office in Beach City, volunteered her nursing expertise for numerous years at Camp Wanake, and retired from her nursing career at Country Lawn Nursing Home in Harmon. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Coral, FL. She was an accomplished seamstress, Euchre card shark, and loved reading and traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merl, in 2003. Surviving are a daughter, Susan (Michael) Switzer of Tupelo; MS, Mark (Cathy) Savage of South Haven, MI; and Jeffrey (Marie) Savage of Smithville, VA; seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Rhea (Richard) Cantleberry of Justus, OH; and sisterinlaw, Janet (Gary) Grimm of Stone Creek, OH. A memorial service will be conducted at Camp Wanake’s Savage Retreat Center on State Route 93 near Beach City on Monday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. The family is being assisted by Lantzer Funeral Home of Beach City and requests that memorial gifts be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
