Gary R. Shackelford, 64 of Beach City passed away at his residence following a 9 year battle with cancer. He was born at Beckley, W. Va., the son of the late Harley R. and Charlotte Williamson Shackelford and had been a resident since 1978. Gary retired from Republic Steel, Massillon, where he worked in transportation. He was a proud member of the Marines, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of Shady Rest Army/Navy Garrison and Post #549 American Legion both of Beach City and VFW #5047, of Navarre. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife the former, Connie Randles who passed Sept. 15, 2007. Surviving are 2 daughters and sons in law, Kelly (Michael) Bailey of Navarre and Becky (Dave) Hartline of Brewster; 1 sister, Brenda (Bill) Huddleston of Urichsville; 3 grandchildren, Mason Kimball, Liza and Alannah Bailey and his Best Buddy Chopper. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Lantzer Funeral Home, Beach City. Interment will be made in South Lawn Cemetery, Beach City.
