Kenneth (Jake) Sampsel

Kenneth (Jake) Sampsel, 93 of Beach City, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Affinity Medical Center, Massillon following a period of declining health. He was born in Geauga County, Oh., the son of the late Ervin and Mae Cooper Sampsel. A WW II Army Veteran, Kenny retired in 1983 from Norfolk and Southern Railway at Brewster, where he was a clerk. He was formerly on Village Council, Board of Public Affairs and Mayor of Beach City, a member of First Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #540,, Cypress Chapter #604, Strasburg and Scotish Rite Valley of Canton. Ken was preceded by his wife, the former Marguerite Harper, Feb. 9, 2003, one sister and two brothers. Surviving are two sons and daughters in law; Robert (Vickie) Sampsel of Beach City, Duane (Norma) Sampsel of Wooster; one sister, Donna Lantzer of Beach City; 4 grandchildren, Brian, Sarah, Joel and Shanna; 6 great grandchildren. Service will be held, Wednesday February 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Main St., Beach City. Interment will be made in South Lawn Cemetery, Beach City. Friends may call Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic service to be held at 4:45.
