Lavonne M. Speicher, age 80, a lifelong resident of Dalton passed away, Sunday, March 5, 2017. She was born in Wayne County, Ohio to the late Carl and Mary (Edie) Hauenstein. She had been employed at Dalton Local Schools as a Cafeteria Food Preparation Supervisor before retiring. Lavonne enjoyed spending her time reading, doing cross words, baking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Throughout her life she was a devout member of the Dalton Presbyterian Church as well as a supporter of the Dalton Schools Music Boosters among many other groups and activities. She is survived by 5 children; Jeff (Laura) Speicher of Wooster, Bob (Darlene) Speicher of Beach City, Jerry (Michele) Speicher of Dalton, Sharon (David) Kuhlins of Massillon and Susan Speicher of Dalton; 3 siblings; Harold Hauenstein of Massillon, Donald (Elizabeth) Hauenstein of Dalton and Fae (Harley) Gerber of Dalton; 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild on the way. She is preceded in this last journey by her loving husband Edward Speicher. A celebration of Lavonne’s life will be held Friday, March 31, 2017, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Dalton Presbyterian Church, 163 W Main St, Dalton, OH 44618. Friends and family are invited to come sit around tables to share some food and memories just as Ed and Lavonne enjoyed doing. Pastor Sally Fusek will be giving a brief closing to the gathering. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dalton Presbyterian Church.
