Shirla J Spangler

Shirla J. Spangler, 94, of Navarre, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2022. Born on May 30, 1927 to the late Merle and Mabel Sword, she spent more than 60 years as a resident of Beach City, the "garden spot of America." Shirla was a faithful member of the Beach City United Methodist church, a member of the Beach City American Legion Post 549 Auxiliary for 70 years, and a longtime member of the Navarre VFW Post 5047 Auxiliary. Among her many loves and joys throughout life were playing cards, bingo, attending class reunions, celebrating Halloween, hunting mushrooms and spending time with her extensive circle of family and friends. Shirla is survived by daughter Diane (Mike) Young, son David Spangler, son Daniel (Chris) Spangler, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Shirla was preceded in death by her husband Doyle R. Spangler, daughter and son-in-law Myrna and Robert Kandle and so many cherished others including siblings, parents, and loved ones. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022, 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Lantzer Funeral Home, Beach City, with funeral services at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Beach City cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Beach City Fire Association or Community Hospice of New Philadelphia.
