Melvin W. Bentz

Melvin W. Bentz, 93 of Massillon, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 following a period of declining health. He was born at Trail, Oh., the son of the late John and Iva M. Davis Bentz and had been a life area resident. Melvin was a WW II Army Veteran and retired from R.E. Slutz, North Industry, where he had been a truck driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, the former Donna Wade, April 1, 1984 and 7 siblings. Surviving are 2 daughters, June Young and Wanda Smith both of Massillon; 1 son, Melvin W. Bentz, Jr. of Akron; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and 1 sister, Erma Dilard of Wooster. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Lantzer Funeral Home, Beach City with Pastor Larry Patterson officiating. Interment will be made in South Lawn Cemetery, Beach City. Friends may call Tuesday, June 14, 2011 from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
